This comprehensive study evaluates the consumption of key foods and nutrients in 195 countries from 1990 to 2017, highlighting the impact of suboptimal diets on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Findings indicate that poor dietary habits contributed to 11 million deaths and 255 million disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) in 2017. Key risk factors included high sodium intake, low whole grain consumption, and insufficient fruit intake, emphasizing the critical need for dietary improvements worldwide.
